Who is God the Father? Who is God? What I believe about God will shape my every thought and action. I am able to know God because He is a Person and has revealed Himself to me. No one else defines who God is but Himself (Exodus 3:14). God is not some cosmic Creator who set the universe in motion and then left it alone to exist on its own. He is not distant and aloof from me, but close, personal, and intimately concerned with my personal affairs. He is actively participating in the world today. He is actively seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:23). The Bible reveals God as an intimate Father: 1. Through faith in Jesus Christ, I can be adopted into the family of God (Romans 8:14-17; Galatians 4:6). I am then able to cry out to Him 'ABBA' which literally means 'Daddy' in the Aramaic language. 2. God as my Father is wonderfully illustrated for me by Jesus in the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32). 3. Peter describes believers as God's own special people (1 Peter 2:9-10). God the Father is linked to God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. They are all the fullness of the Godhead (1 Peter 1:2).

What are His MORAL attributes? (God’s Character) (An attribute is an inherent characteristic of a person; an element of God's nature.) 1. God is LOVE – Love is the essential, self-giving nature of God (1 John 4:7-12 & 16).   

God loves His Son - (Matthew 3:17) God loves each person in the world - (John 3:16) God has demonstrated and shown His love to me by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for me and the sins of the world - (Romans 5:6-8)

2. God is HOLY – He is absolutely pure, perfect, and sinless (Isaiah 6:1-3; Psalm 99:5, 9; Habakkuk 1:13). 3. God is RIGHTEOUS and JUST – He always does what is right. He defines all that is just, right, and good (Ezra 9:15; Psalm 145:17). 4. God is MERCIFUL and KIND – He is inherently kind and often gives me that which I do not deserve (Deut. 4:31; Psalm 103:8; Exodus 34:5-7). 5. God is FAITHFUL – I can always rely on Him knowing that He will never let me down (Deut. 7:9; Isaiah 49:7; 1 Cor. 1:9). 6. God is TRUTH – He cannot lie (Titus 1:2).

What are the NATURAL attributes of God? 1. God is SPIRIT – No one has seen Him at any time (Genesis 1:1-2; John 1:18 & 4:24). 2. God is INFINITE – He is limitless not bound by time or space (1 Kings 8:27; Jer. 23:23). 3. God is ETERNAL – He has no beginning or end (Gen. 21:33; Deut. 33:27; Psalm 90:2-3). 4. God is the CREATOR – He created ALL things (Gen. 1:1; Isaiah 40:25-28). 5. God is OMNIPOTENT – He is ALL powerful (Jer. 32:17, 27; Matthew 19:26). 6. God is UNCHANGEABLE – He never changes (Malachi 3:6; James 1:17). 9. God is AWESOME – He inspires awe {reverent wonder tinged with fear} (Deut. 7:21; Daniel 9:4).
