November 4, 2012 Dr. Mark D. Cain Questions Jesus Asks You #1
Why Are You Afraid? Mark 4:35-41 (Pew Bible 999)
Jesus’ questions press His points into our lives.
Jesus teaches that fear is deflated by faith (Mark 4:40). Jesus believes the disciples should have this by now. So, where does this “fear-deflating” faith come from? Two themes in Mark 1-4 that should have produced “fear-deflating” faith in Jesus:
1. Jesus has all-authority over everything.
2. Jesus is all-caring for everyone.
Fear deflates as you trust in an “all-authority” “all-caring” Savior.
Fear can be a handle by which you lay hold on the Lord.
Looking ahead – Read Luke 6:46-49 in preparation.
