“That was a lot of guts by [Carter] to throw that breaking ball for the final out,” Gobert said. “Give Ross (Peter) credit behind the plate, too. He hasn’t caught a whole lot, but he’s been hanging in there and getting people out.” The Cats will have another busy week this week as they face Evansville Central and Castle on the road and host Pike Central and New Albany.

It’s safe to say that there’s a lot of positive vibes around the Jasper baseball program right now, but the Cats know they have to keep their minds clear and focus on what’s ahead of them. “We know we’re undefeated right now, but that’s not really the main goal,” Stamm said. “The main goal is to be as good as we can be by the time we get to the tourney — then, we’ll see what we can do with that.”

JCards finish with undefeated weekend HENDERSONVILLE, Tn. — This past weekend, the 14U JCards baseball team traveled to Hendersonville to compete in the Greater Midwest Baseball Can of Corn Classic. The JCards dominated pool play by defeating the LZ360 Bison Baseball Club from Chicago 12-2, and then shutout the Southern Illinois Prospects of Mount Vernon 10-0. Sunday’s play was canceled due to weather. Members of the JCards are Charlie Kabrick, Ty Kalb, Ryan Leuck, Maverick Merkel, Garrett Scamahorn, Kaleb Senninger, Andrew Sternberg, Lucas Timm, Xavior Wehr and Matthew Wright. Coaches are Martin Timm, Eric Wright and Jason Scamahorn.
