Talk about what is happening in each picture and ask if the Kid-Os are being wise or not. What’s the point? This activity will remind Kid-Os of the Bible story they just heard. It will also help Kid-Os determine wise behavior from unwise behavior. In this activity, they will use their reasoning, language, and visual skills.

Boaz and Ruth Activity: Share the Toy Materials: Any toy from the classroom Say This: Today we heard how Boaz shared his grain with Ruth. Sharing is a great way to show others you care about them! Today, let’s practice sharing one of the toys here in our classroom. Do This: Give each Kid-O a chance to hold and look at the toy. Count to five and then ask the Kid-O to please share the toy with the Kid-O next to him or her. Use Kid-Os’ names and encourage them to say, “I want to share this with you, (Kid-O’s name).” What’s the point? Sharing is a very difficult concept and practice for this age group of Kid-Os. Developmentally, they are in a very “me” stage. This activity will help them practice sharing and loving others in a very simple, age-appropriate way. They will grow in their social skills through sharing and learning to use sharing language. In addition, they have the opportunity to learn and say each other’s names, which will help them start building relationships with each other.

Daniel Activity: Food Guessing Game Materials: Plastic food, bag Say This: Daniel and his friends chose to be wise by not eating the king’s food. They knew God didn't want them to eat it! Today, we’re going to guess which foods are in the bag. Do This: Show Kid-Os the different food items. Allow them to touch the items too! Then, tell them to close their eyes while you place one food item in the bag. Keep the other items hidden as Kid-Os take turns reaching into the bag to feel and guessing which food item is inside! What’s the point? This activity will be a fun way to remember that Daniel and his friends wisely chose not to eat the king’s food. The activity will utilize and grow kids’ cognitive and reasoning skills. They will use touch recognition as they try to remember and think of which food items they’ve seen.

Joshua Activity: March Around the Wall Materials: none Say This: Joshua and the Israelites marched around a big wall for seven days. On the seventh day, they marched around the wall seven times and then shouted as loud as they could! That made the wall fall down. Today, we’re going to pretend we’re marching around a wall too! Do This: Help Kid-Os stand in a circle. March around in a circle, loosely singing to the tune of “Ring Around the Rosie.” Then, have Kid-Os “fall” down, like the wall did! Do this activity a few times, or as long as attention spans allow. We’re marching around the wall, We’re gonna make it fall, Blow your trumpets and shout out loud, Because now it’s gonna FALL!

What’s the point? This activity will be a fun way for Kid-Os to remember this exciting part of the Bible story! Putting concepts and words to music helps us to make memories, which will help Kid-Os internalize this story. The song and movement will engage their verbal and large motor skills.

Today, we’re going to dance and celebrate how much God loves us all. Do This: Have Kid-Os stand up. Start the music and dance around. Every now and then, stop the music and tell Kid-Os to freeze. We should all be kind, honest, thankful, obedient, and we should use self-control. Today, let’s practice following directions and play Simon Says! Do This: Give instructions, stating “Simon says” prior to the instruction. Sometimes, do not say “Simon says.” Do not make Kid-Os be “out” if they don’t listen. This should be fun and light-hearted! What’s the point? This activity will help kids remember and think about the Bible story, strengthen their gross motor skills, and develop their ability to share and work with others as they share crayons.
