WORSHIP AT HOME: JUNE 14, 2020

Produced by and for: WINNETKA BIBLE CHURCH

WORSHIP AT HOME TODAY: WBC ANNUAL MEETING (See details below) “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16 ESV) One of the most essential qualities of going to church on Sunday mornings is that we do so together. Gathering together with other believers is essential to us being the Church, to be unified as Christ’s body. Though it is not currently possible or wise for us to gather in one building, we can continue to be united as we worship God as one church. Being together as a church in this way is going to look a bit different for the time being, as we lift our voices and look to God’s word from within our homes. In this temporary setting, our hope is that the elements of this resource will provide you with the essential parts of our Sunday morning gatherings. This worship guide is meant as a tool that directs your attention, and is written to be used alongside the service video on YouTube, which is also located on the front page of wbc.org. As you gather in your homes to worship together with us as a church, it may be helpful to assign various roles to one another. For example, you could have one person read the scripture readings, while another person leads the prayers. Our prayer is that this resource guides you in rehearsing the truth of the Gospel, which is what we aim to do each and every time we gather. After our service today, June 14th, our Annual Congregational Meeting will take place over Zoom at 12:00 PM (noon). If you can’t find the instruction email or are having difficulty, you can contact Rohan Johnson: (847) 975-7229, or Stephen Lofing (303) 519-4739 for the links to the meeting and to vote.

Signed, Mike Johnson & Crandell Hemphill

PENITENCE AND PARDON Call to Confession: Psalm 139:1-4, 23-24 (ESV) [Leader] O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. [All] You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. [Leader] Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether. [All] Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting!

Song of Confession: O Help My Unbelief (How Sad Our State By Nature Is) Verse 1 How sad our state by nature is! Our sin how deep it stains! And Satan binds our captive minds, Fast in his slavish chains But there’s a voice of sov’reign grace, Sounds from the sacred Word, “Ho, ye, despairing sinners, come, And trust upon the Lord.” Verse 2 My soul obeys, th’almighty call, And runs to this relief, I would believe thy promise, Lord, Oh! Help my unbelief! To the fountain of thy precious blood, Incarnate God, I fly, Here let me wash my spotted soul, From crimes of deepest dye. Verse 3 A guilty, weak, and helpless worm, On thy kind arms I fall: Be thou my strength and righteousness, My Jesus and my all! Stretch out thy arm, victorious King, My reigning sins subdue. Drive this old dragon from his seat, With all his hellish crew. Tag But there’s a voice of sov’reign grace, Sounds from the sacred Word, “Ho, ye, despairing sinners, come, And trust upon the Lord. And trust upon the Lord.”

Assurance of Pardon: 1 Timothy 1:15-16 (ESV) [Leader] The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, [All] That Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. [Leader] But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. [All] To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

RESPONSE Response Song: Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me Verse 1 What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer There is no more for heaven now to give He is my joy my righteousness and freedom My steadfast love my deep and boundless peace

Verse 4 With every breath I long to follow Jesus For he has said that he will bring me home And day by day I know he will renew me Until I stand with joy before the throne

To this I hold my hope is only Jesus For my life is wholly bound to his Oh how strange and divine I can sing all is mine Yet not I but through Christ in me

To this I hold my hope is only Jesus All the glory evermore to him When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat Yet not I but through Christ in me

Verse 2 The night is dark but I am not forsaken For by my side the Saviour he will stay I labour on in weakness and rejoicing For in my need his power is displayed

Ending When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat Yet not I but through Christ in me Yet not I but through Christ in me

To this I hold my Shepherd will defend me Through the deepest valley he will lead Oh the night has been won and I shall overcome Yet not I but through Christ in me Verse 3 No fate I dread I know I am forgiven The future sure the price it has been paid For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon And he was raised to overthrow the grave To this I hold my sin has been defeated Jesus now and ever is my plea Oh the chains are released I can sing I am free Yet not I but through Christ in me
