call to worship The Scriptural call to worship at the beginning of our service is a reminder that as we gather it is God who initiates and reveals himself to us through his Word, and we respond to him. There is none like You among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like Yours. All the nations You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, and shall glorify Your name. For You are great and do wondrous things; You alone are God.

Psalm 86:8–10

corporate confession During this time we acknowledge that we have sinned against a holy God, and we have the assurance that because of Christ we have been forgiven and are blessed recipients of God’s mercy, grace and love. I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:1–2

offering Giving is an act of worship in which we give generously of our substance to further the mission of the church and to bring glory to God.

Part 3: Spirit, Restoration, Growing in Grace QUESTION 36

What do we believe about the Holy Spirit? That he is God, coeternal with the Father and the Son, and that God grants him irrevocably to all who believe.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

John 14:16–17

P R AY E R God Our Help, we thank you for sending your Spirit to live in us. Thank you that he chastens and disciplines, strengthens and comforts us. Let us live the life of faith in his power, not our own. Let us walk the path of obedience, filled with his joy. Amen.
