Accommodation WHETHER YOU WANT TO LIVE IN ONE OF OUR HALLS, OR RENT PRIVATE ACCOMMODATION, WE HAVE A DEDICATED TEAM TO HELP YOU CHOOSE THE MOST SUITABLE OPTION FOR YOU.

Our student residences give students the security of knowing they are choosing a safe, clean and secure accommodation that suits the needs of the modern student. As an ICP student, you’ll have access to ICP Halls and a number of University accommodation. Rent is in the range of £90 to £165 per person per week and includes wireless internet and all bills. Most halls are selfcatered with en-suite bathrooms, and are located within minutes walking distance from ICP and the University. If you decide to rent private accommodation, central Portsmouth, Southsea, and Gunwharf Quays are the most popular locations for students offering a good mixture of private halls, shared houses, flats and studios. They’re home to much of the city’s best nightlife, restaurants and culture, and the University is a short walk away. You should expect to pay, on average, £80 to £150 per person, per week for rent. Most contracts include wireless internet and bills in the rent, but make sure to double check these details when researching your options.

Council tax: Council tax is a tax collected by local governments here in the UK. This tax pays for essential services such as the Police, Fire Rescue and street cleaning. You might be charged council tax depending on your age and length of study programme. The amount of council tax varies depending on the valuation of the accommodation in which you stay. For student residences, the council tax charged can be around £250 for the whole stay.

‘I studied my A levels in the north of England but found Portsmouth a much more suitable city for me. I enjoy the weather down here. Students from Hanoi and Vietnam in general should choose Portsmouth as it is a welcoming city and my experience at ICP has helped me improve my English and gain good academic skills. I feel my chances of securing a job back in Vietnam have been increased.’

‘I chose to study my Master’s at the University of Portsmouth because the Department of Sport and Exercise Science has a great reputation and ranking in the UK. My course includes an internship and I also volunteer in a Youth Club in the local community. I studied at ICP for three months on the Pre-Master’s programme which helped me enormously with overcoming language, culture and understanding the different educational styles to China. It was an easy transition onto the MSc programme!’
