Community & Social Code of Conduct This Community & Social Code of Conduct is intended to set out expectations that the Students’ Union has of its member students and groups of students, including Sports Teams and Societies, when integrating and interacting with the local community. These expectations are as follows: 1) Socials (and the activities within) are opt-in only & shall have no bearing on any team selection, status within the club/society, or club/society elections 2) Drinking should not be a theme of the social and members should be able to take part in all activities whether drinking alcohol or not 3) Members students will not apply what may be perceived as peer pressure by an individual, upon any individual in any social situation; or will any individual be put in a situation that puts them at risk 4) Club and Society Executive Committees are responsible for the welfare of their members and the adherence to this Code of Conduct 5) Club and Society Executive Committee’s will be asked to sign this Code of Conduct 6) Publication of inappropriate images, such as pictures of anti-social behaviour on social media is not permitted 7) All socials must adhere to all Students’ Union Policies, especially the Equal Opportunities and Zero Tolerance Policies, the Not On Our Campus campaign, and be conducted in a safe and secure environment 8) Student members and Club and Society Executive Committees must respect the people who live around campus and surrounding neighbourhoods at night, and not make excessive noise from chanting, singing or screaming Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action under the Students’ Union Disciplinary Policy and Procedure and/or the following immediate actions at the discretion of the Students’ Union President: 

Removal of individuals and/or teams from BUCS competition

   

Freezing of bank accounts managed by the Students’ Union Fines and/or community service University disciplinary action Legal action if appropriate

(Sports Teams only; if any incidents occur at the end of a BUCS season, then punishments may be levied for the following year )
