“When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” Luke 19:5

Zacchaeus Luke 19:1-10

Read the entire passage. Have you ever felt like you weren’t “good enough” or were “too much”? If you are willing to share, describe a time you felt that way. What about a time you potentially looked at someone else in judgment. This can be the hardest to answer because it takes being vulnerable and humble enough to admit where we may have failed.

Zacchaeus, an outcast, has this moment of “Awe” when Jesus asks to come to his house. Describe what the moment must have felt like for Zacchaeus. How about you personally? What did, or would it feel/felt like for Jesus to have invited you? What does it mean to you to know that you have a place at Jesus’ table?

The crowd that watched Jesus go with Zacchaeus was upset that He would do such a thing. It’s really hard to admit it, but have you ever found yourself acting like the crowd? Where you’ve been quick to see someone as a problem rather than someone who needs to sit with Jesus?

Jesus modeled a life that was about inviting people to His table; especially the outcast. What would it look like to live your life with eyes for those who need to be invited to Jesus’ table? What would it take to live that way?

Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” Luke 19:9-10
