STEWARDSHIP MESSAGE Sunday 3/3/2019 Attendance: 413 Needed per Week: $25,333 Received this week: $21,900 2019 Stewardship Pledges Received Thus Far: 126* Luke 9:36 – “And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.” Moses and Elijah point to Jesus, speak about Jesus and His sacrifice, and then they are happy to fade into the background. They know that what we need is Jesus. With our eyes focused on Him, and Him alone, the rest of our lives come into focus. He is primary; all else is secondary. When that order is right in our lives, things truly fall into place. Or as Jesus Himself said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). +++ *If you missed our annual Stewardship Sunday last month, don't worry, there's still time to turn in your committment of time, talent and treasure to the Lord for this year! You'll find extra plegde cards an envelopes in the pews, which can be placed in the offering plate, handed to an usher at any worship service, or mailed to the church office.

I would like to thank Zion congregation for its support of my pursuit of the DMA in Church Music degree at Baylor University these past four years. A generous gift from a private donor has covered the financial side of this endeavor, and the congregation has been nothing but supportive in their words of encouragement and interest in my work. In addition, words of thanks to Lois Eatherton are in order; Lois has been teaching the bulk of the school music in my stead since I began the program, and she has been doing an exemplary job. I am now coming to the end of my last semester, and I would like to invite you to my final organ recital in Waco. It is on Friday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall in the McCrary Music Building on the campus of Baylor. Thank you again for your support, and I thank God for the people of Zion. — Sam Eatherton

Dr. Abel’s son Jon and family (wife: Alicia and children: Gregory, Jacob, Daniel, and Mary) are members of Zion. This is quite a recognition of Dr. Abel and his family.

CHILDREN AND CHURCH Why do we have children in our church services? Wouldn’t it be better to put them somewhere else so the adults can worship in peace? Questions like these have received renewed attention, and many churches answer them in different ways. Would you like to hear why our church (Zion) chooses to welcome children into our services and what we can do to help embrace them? Come to the adult Bible class in the church nave on Sunday, March 31st to hear how children are an integral part of our worship. If you have children, have ever had children, seen other children in church, or been a child yourself, this class is for you! Join us for Worship: Where Heaven Meets Earth—every Sunday morning at 9:20 a.m. in the church nave. 7
